About this Quiz

Dwarf planets are celestial bodies in our solar system that, while similar to planets, have not cleared their neighboring region of other objects. Currently, the International Astronomical Union officially recognizes five dwarf planets: Pluto, Eris, Haumea, Makemake, and Ceres. Each of these dwarf planets has unique characteristics and interesting histories. For example, Pluto was once considered the ninth planet in our solar system before being reclassified as a dwarf planet. Eris, the largest dwarf planet, was discovered in 2005 and its discovery led to the reclassification of Pluto. Haumea, named after the Hawaiian goddess of childbirth, has an elongated shape unlike any other known celestial body. Makemake, named after the creation deity of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island, is the second brightest object in the Kuiper belt. Lastly, Ceres, the smallest and closest dwarf planet to the Sun, is located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. This quiz will delve into these fascinating celestial bodies and their unique characteristics.
