About this Quiz
The sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912, is one of the most infamous shipwrecks in history. After the ship struck an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City, more than 1,500 people lost their lives in the disaster. The aftermath of the sinking saw significant changes in maritime regulations to prevent such disasters in the future. The ship that came to the rescue of the survivors was the RMS Carpathia, under the command of Captain Arthur Rostron. The Carpathia received the Titanic's distress signal and immediately set course to rescue the survivors. The ship managed to rescue 705 people, who were later taken to New York. The disaster was widely reported in the media, with The New York Times being the first newspaper to report the sinking. The aftermath of the sinking also saw two inquiries being held, one by the United States Senate and the other by the British Wreck Commissioner's court under Lord Mersey. These inquiries led to significant changes in maritime regulations.
